Landspitali - The National University Hospital of Iceland is looking to expand the team of Consultant Psychiatrists. Landspitali employs around 7000 people and provides specialist health services in inpatient, outpatient and emergency departments. At the hospital we treat different kinds of psychiatric disorders at various units; Acute Inpatient Unit, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit, Addiction Psychiatry - Inpatient Unit, Rehabilitation Units and at our Outpatient Services.
We seek psychiatrists within different specialties/ with a variety of experiences who possess outstanding communication skills, professional ambition, and an interest to work with individuals suffering from severe mental disorders.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations; make diagnoses and prescribe treatment
- Participation in multidisciplinary teamwork
- Participation in diverse educational activities and teaching of medical students; clinical mentoring of residents
- Participation in research projects
- Participation in quality and improvement projects
- Participation in out-of-hour duties
QUALIFICATIONS
- License to practice psychiatry
- Professional ambition and interest in working with people with severe mental illness
- Independent and organized working methods
- Clinical competence in evidence based practices
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of current research to integrate into your practice
- Fluency in English, willing to learn Icelandic

FURTHER INFORMATION ABOUT THE POSITION AND APPLICATION:
A full-time position at the hospital is on offer. Salary according to the current collective agreement concluded by the Minister of Finance and the Economy and the Medical Association of Iceland.
